I'm not much one for flashy poses. I was never the bendiest ballerina, but rather more known for my cleanliness and poise. Pilates and yoga were never about how "much" I could do or how far I could push, but rather about how I could heal, not just ballet injuries, but also that physical and psychosomatic rift that many dancers and athletes feel between what their body has to give them and what they wish it could do. Pilates and yoga for me are about honoring my boundaries and, in so doing, sometimes they expand, but most times I just feel more grateful and conscious of my strength and suppleness. I'm able to live in my body with a little bit more softness and fluidity. It's a daily practice for the body, mind, and spirit, this coming home to your self. This is my humble pigeon - piriformis stretch in pilatespeak. Nourishing to my hips without agressing my ligaments.
